HIGHLIGHT ON THE INDUCTION AND INVESTITURE OF INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCE, RESEARCH AND ADMINISTRATION NIGERIA (IHSRAN)
The highly-anticipated Induction and Investiture ceremony of the Institute of Health Science, Research, and Administration Nigeria took place on Saturday, December 16th, 2023. The event, held at Grand Decent Hotel and Suite, Idoro Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and brought together distinguished individuals from various fields of endeavors.
The ceremony commenced at 10:00 am with the accreditation process, ensuring a smooth and organized entry for all attendees. As a symbol of unity and patriotism, the opening prayer was done collectively by singing the 1st Stanza of the National Anthem.
One of the highlights of the event was the presence of distinguished dignitaries. Notable personalities such as Prof. Comfort Etok: Director of Institute of Health safety and Environment Uni- Uyo, Dr Godwin Evans O.: Chairman Environmental Society of Nigeria Akwa-Ibom State, Prof. Noame Asamudo: Former HOD Department of Micro Biology Uni-Uyo, Prof. Joseph Essien: Dean Faculty of Science University of Uyo, Prof. Enoibong Ekpeme: Provost College of Medical Science University of Uyo, Prof. Michael Akpan of Department of Forestry Uni- Uyo, Dr. Adoaga Chairman/ CEO of Champion Brewery who graced the occasion.
Dr. Kufre Essien, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, delivered a warm and heartfelt welcome speech, expressing gratitude for the presence of all attendees. Dr. Essien’s words set the tone for the ceremony, following by the welcome speech of the Institute President, Dr. Akomaye Celsus U., who took the stage to deliver an inspiring opening speech. Dr. Akomaye shared insightful thoughts and set the agenda for the induction and investiture proceedings, setting the tone for the rest of the event.
Thereafter was keynote lecture by Dr. Yohanna Wamanyi on the Theme: Pioneer a healthier future: Advancing Research And Leadership in Global Management and Healthcare Landscape, followed by Technical Paper Presentation on Poor Clinical Waste Management Effect by Engr. Uwemedimo Umoh Umoh – CSP.
There was panel discussion which included esteemed experts in various fields, who shared valuable insights and experiences on various aspects of healthcare waste management and its impact on public health. They discussed on effective strategies for improving clinical waste management at different levels of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
As the Induction and Investiture ceremony progressed, deserving individuals were recognized with excellent award for their outstanding contributions in their various field such a Prof. Augustine Vincent Umoh: Honourable Commissioner for Health Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Enobong Ikpeme: Provost, College of Medical Science University of Uyo, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi (OON) Sarkin Malan Hausa: Vice Chancellor Federal University Dutsin-Ma Katsina State, Nigeria, ably represented by Prof. Micheal Akpan of Department of Forestry Uni-Uyo, Prof. Aniekan Abasiattai: Chief Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist University of Uyo Teaching Hospital Akwa-Ibom State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Peter Odey: Deputy Governor Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem: Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Surv. Sylvanus Okon: Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Dr. Martins Akpan: Chairman, AKS Primary Healthcare and Development Agency, Professor Eyo Ekpo, from Babcock University. Dept of Agricultural Economics. Engr. Francis Ekperikpe, CEO Fintel Safety Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Akpanobong: CEO, St. Athanasius Hospital Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Honourable Aminu Barau: GM Katsina State Housing authority, Dr. Daniel Vershima Zar: Provost Benue State College of Health Technology, Agasha, Dr. Ndiyun Revert Kosho Dean of Academics Supreme international University of Health and Developmental Studies Yaoude Cameroon, Dr. Adebiyi Lateef: Founder of Society of Community Health Technologist, Ademulegun Fadesola: Director of PHC and many others, adding to the grandeur and significance of the ceremony. The recipients expressed their gratitude for the recognition and shared their thoughts on the importance of continued research and innovation for global development.
Following the presentation of excellence awards, finally, the Inductions and Investiture ceremony took place, where new members were officially inducted into the Institute.
Thereafter was announcement, vote of thanks and rendition of the 2nd Stanza of the National Anthem.
